Be With You (いま、会いにゆきます, Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu, 2004), is a Japanese drama movie, directed by Nobuhiro Doi. It was adapted to sceen by Yoshikazu Okada from a novel of Takuji Ichikawa.

“Mio’s (Yūko Takeuchi) death leaves husband Takumi (Shido Nakamura) and 6 year old son Yuji (Akashi Takei) fending for themselves. Taku occasionally suffers fainting spells, is disorganized, and fears that his health hindered Mio’s happiness. Yuji overheard relatives speculate that his delivery compromised her health, and he blames himself for her death. Mio left him a picture book in which she departs for “The Archive Star” but re-appears during the rainy season the following year, and he eagerly awaits her return. Taking a walk in the forest outside their house, Taku and Yuji find a woman sheltering from the rain and immediately accept her as Mio.

She has no memory or sense of identity, but comes home to live with them anyway. She asks Taku how they met and fell in love, and he recounts a tale of years of missed chances starting in high school until she encouraged their marriage years later. As the rainy season nears its end, Yuji finds the “time capsule” he hid with his mother before her death. Mio’s diary is inside, and its version of the romance holds the answers to the mystery.”

One of my rarest Japanese movie review up to date. This is a touching love story. Be With You involves some unexplained supernatural situations like have some future visions, coming back to life for a while, etc. The way the story connects is smooth and viewers should be able to understand the whole story at the end. The movie shows how a mother’s love for her family when she knew that what would happen to her. Okay, enough of spoilers. You can watch the trailer below. “Spoiler warning”!

NUS Students’ Engineering Club has come out with a very nicely done advertisement for their Rag team this year. I’m quite impressed by the effort by them. Well done. And the main star in the ad, Matt. Nice run around the engineering buildings. I like particularly the scene when everybody chasing after you before going up the staircase. The top view is nice.

Happy Birthday to my blog. It is officially one year old now. It has now reached the 111 blog posts, 4490 comments and amazingly over 1.6 million views as of 16 March 2007. I didn’t expect such an achievement in just one year. Am proud of it and hope those who view my blog will continue to give me your support. How much would you do and sacrifice for your child? I’m quite touched and also inspired by what Dick Hoyt does for his son. When he was told by doctors to put his son Rick in an institution, he refused. Instead Dick an Rick have spent their lifetimes together travelling the world and inspiring everyone the meet. Father of the century? No doubt about it.

Disabled and unable to speak at birth, Rick only managed to voice up his heart some years later using some digital machine. From that day onwards, his father do anything he can for Rick. He’s not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars–all in the same day.
